ÜBER
The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is one of the most extraordinary coffee-growing regions in the world – with a deep connection to nature, cultural diversity and climatic conditions that bring true character to every bean.
The smallholder farming families of the Red Ecolsierra cooperative combine traditional farming methods with modern sustainability standards. Their focus is on biodiversity and healthy soils – combined with modern, sustainable methods such as the use of organic fertilizers, without synthetic fertilizers or harmful chemicals. In addition to coffee, they also produce cocoa and honey, thus making an important contribution to climate and environmental protection. Projects like Red Ecolsierra demonstrate that sustainable farming, biodiversity, and economic opportunities for smallholder farmers can go hand in hand.
The coffee belts of the Sierra lie at altitudes of 900 to 1,900 meters – offering perfect conditions for sustainable coffee cultivation and high-quality Arabica coffees.
Due to its microclimate, the region only allows a single harvest season from October to January, which ensures that the coffee cherries ripen particularly evenly – resulting in exceptional quality and taste.
