ÜBER ASOMUJER WASHED EA Sugarcane
ASOMUJER – Asociación de Campesinas del Sur del Huila – is an impressive community of female producers from the municipality of Timaná in the southern part of the Huila department. The initiative was founded in 2007 by ten women seeking new ways to secure fairer compensation for their work. Today, ASOMUJER has 75 members – including activists, single mothers, and women displaced by past conflicts in Colombia. Together, they are committed to high-quality products, collaborative solidarity, and sustainable development in their region.
The producers oversee the entire process – from cultivation and harvesting to processing and distribution – and support their members with training and technical expertise. Their goal: to strengthen economic independence, achieve better prices, and create a stable, sustainable income for families in Timaná.
Preparation – Washed & EA Sugarcane Decaf
The coffee is processed using the traditional washed method: harvested fully ripe, pulped on the same day, then fermented for 12–36 hours, and afterwards carefully separated from the pulp. Depending on the farm, drying takes place on patios, in solar or parabolic dryers. The natural Sugarcane EA process is used for decaffeination – a particularly gentle method that preserves the coffee's sweet, clear aromas.
